structure to complete cone forming. It is widely used in the production of components such as dust collection hoppers, chemical reducing sections, steel structure conical shells, and grain silo cones.

When a standard parallel-roll plate rolling machine rolls a cone, the feed speeds at the large and small ends of the plate are different, making deviation, plate twisting, and uneven taper very likely. Operators need to repeatedly add padding and adjust manually, resulting in large finished-product errors and low efficiency in mass production. In contrast, the upper and lower working rolls of a tapered-roll plate rolling machine are themselves tapered, with one end of the roll body thicker and the other thinner, matching the circumference difference between the large and small openings of the conical workpiece. During rolling, the large-opening side feeds faster and the small-opening side feeds slower, matching the motion pattern of cone forming. The plate naturally rolls and forms according to the set taper, reducing deviation and twisting problems at the root.

Conical workpiece rolling process:

  1. Blanking and lofting: Cut the steel plate according to the fan-shaped unfolded drawing, ensuring the unfolded dimensions and bevel meet requirements;

  2. Pre-bending: Pre-bend both ends of the plate to eliminate straight-edge sections and avoid straight ends remaining after forming;

  3. Loading and centering: Place the plate between the tapered rolls and align the center to prevent feed offset;

  4. Roll forming: The tapered rolls rotate, and the plate is gradually rolled on the tapered roll surface. The large and small openings are fed synchronously at different linear speeds. Multiple rolling passes gradually achieve the target taper and arc;

  5. Seam closing and tack welding: Roll until the joint closes, then tack weld to secure;

  6. Shaping and roundness correction: re-roll to correct roundness and taper, and inspect the diameters of the large and small openings;

  7. Unload and remove the workpiece, then proceed with welding and grinding.

Advantages of conical roll plate rolling machine processing: ✅ Stable forming, uniform taper, high dimensional accuracy at the large and small ends, and minimal workpiece distortion; ✅ Lower operational requirements—no need for large amounts of shim plates or repeated manual correction, shortening processing time; ✅ Suitable for carbon steel, stainless steel, and other plates; can process various conical shells, eccentric cones, and hopper components from thin to medium-thick plates; ✅ Fewer straight edges on the finished product and good roundness, greatly reducing post-welding shaping work and improving overall component quality.

Applications: conical hoppers for dust removal equipment, pipe reducers, mining material silos, grain silo cones, reducing cylinders for desulfurization equipment, steel structure conical supports, etc.
