Live Rolling Demo of Universal Top Roller Plate Rolling Machine | W11S Hydraulic Three-Roll Plate Rolling Machine On Site

Today we take you into the workshop for a live demonstration of the complete rolling process on the W11S universal top roller three-roll plate rolling machine, giving you a direct look at the whole process of forming tank bodies and cylindrical workpieces from flat plates. As mainstream plate forming equipment in the pressure vessel and steel structure industries, the universal top roller plate rolling machine differs from ordinary symmetric three-roll plate rolling machines in that its core advantage is that the top roller has
hydraulic vertical lifting + mechanical horizontal shifting
two adjustment movements. Relying on a unique asymmetric roll position structure, it can complete pre-bending of both ends of the plate, reciprocating rolling, and final rounding of the finished cylinder in one setup without turning the workpiece around. With an optional cone rolling attachment, it can also process conical shell workpieces, greatly simplifying processing steps and reducing investment in auxiliary equipment.

In the live demonstration, the operator first inspects the plate, marks it and positions it, then steadily feeds the flat steel plate between the upper and lower rollers and aligns it with the reference line. The most troublesome issue with ordinary three-roll plate rolling machines is the long straight edges at both ends, which later require separate press-head pre-bending on a press, costing time and effort. This universal top roller plate rolling machine directly offsets the top roller horizontally, moving it away from the center of the two lower rollers to form an asymmetric rolling point, and first performs pre-bending on the plate end. This step pre-bends both ends of the plate into an arc consistent with the finished product in advance, minimizing the remaining straight edge. After pre-bending is completed, the top roller is returned to the appropriate position, the hydraulic system drives the top roller downward vertically to the set forming pressure, and the two lower rollers are synchronously driven to rotate by the reducer, using roller surface friction to drive the plate back and forth for rolling.

As rolling is repeated, the flat plate gradually undergoes plastic deformation under the three-point bending principle, and the flat surface slowly bends into a continuous arc. The operator gradually increases the downward pressure according to process requirements and forms in multiple passes rather than forcing it down all at once, avoiding plate slipping, surface damage, and arc edge collapse. After every few rolling passes, the machine is stopped to observe the curvature, measure the curvature against a template, and continuously fine-tune the top roller pressure and position to ensure uniform curvature along the entire cylinder and controllable roundness error. After the two ends of the plate meet and close and a cylinder is initially formed, the process is not yet finished. The workpiece can be fed into the roll gap again for overall rounding to correct defects such as ovality and uneven curvature produced during rolling, finally obtaining a cylindrical workpiece that meets drawing requirements.

The roller core of this machine uses 42CrMo high-quality alloy steel, treated by quenching and tempering, hardening, and precision grinding. The roller surface has high hardness, wear resistance, and deformation resistance, with stable deflection resistance when processing thick plates, making it less prone to bulging in the middle and smaller dimensions at both ends. The frame adopts an integral steel plate welded structure and undergoes aging stress relief treatment, giving it solid rigidity and resistance to deformation during long-term continuous operation. The equipment is available in a standard hydraulic digital display model and a fully automatic CNC model. The CNC version is equipped with a PLC touch screen and displacement sensors, providing real-time digital display of the top roller's vertical and horizontal displacement. Processing parameters can be stored and recalled, giving better consistency when repeatedly producing workpieces of the same specification, reducing reliance on experienced operators' know-how, and allowing beginners to get started quickly.

It has a wide material adaptability range and can stably roll low-carbon carbon steel, stainless steel plates, aluminum plates, and low-alloy steel plates. Thin plates form smoothly, and thick plates have sufficient load-bearing capacity. Finished workpieces are widely used in chemical pressure vessels, boiler shells, environmental dust removal tanks, pipes, tower shells, arc-shaped components for construction machinery, grain silos, and more. Compared with four-roll plate rolling machines, the universal top roller model has a more friendly purchase cost and simple maintenance, making it very suitable for small and medium-sized sheet metal, steel structure, and tank processing factories. Compared with ordinary symmetric three-roll machines, it eliminates turning and secondary pre-bending tooling, significantly improving per-piece processing efficiency and making it suitable for batch order production.

This live footage is entirely from real workshop production scenes, with no special effects, so you can directly see every change in plate feeding, pre-bending, rolling, and rounding. The Nantong Suxi Machinery W11S universal top roller plate rolling machine supports non-standard customization and can be customized according to the customer's plate thickness, plate width, and minimum rolling diameter, from small thin-plate models to large-tonnage heavy-duty thick-plate models. Optional accessories include cone rolling tooling, lower roller support rollers, safety guards, and more. We provide test rolling, on-site commissioning, and technical training services. Customers with rolling or cone rolling processing needs are welcome to request test rolling videos and visit the factory to inspect the machine and trial-roll plates.
